Today, the Alycat and the Monday Blues tour is stopping here at the Ginger Mom! We are so excited to be on this tour because Lady Quinn and Mister Chu adored this book! Of course, Lady Quinn was the only one I could catch in time to photograph . . .
I know, in the interest of providing the best possible review, I should say there was something I didn’t like about this book. Anything. Anything at all. Oh wait! It’s titled Alycat and the MONDAY Blues and my post is on Friday. Whose poor planning was that? Mine. So no, there was nothing that I didn’t like about this book.
We’re talking about a children’s book so let’s start with the obvious – illustrations. Chiara Civati (the artist) did an incredible job. Alycat is gorgeous! I love the simplicity of the illustrations without them being too young. This book was still able to hold my attention.
Alycat, herself, was my favorite character because she starts out the book having a bad day. Like so many kids and adults do. This book shows kids, however, that you can work through those bad days. Alycat is definitely a book I feel confident reading to my children.
As I said, there really wasn’t anything that I didn’t like about Alycat and the Monday Blues. Ginger Mom’s review? Solid FIVE stars 🙂
We enjoyed Alycat so much that we contacted Alysson about doing an interview here for Kid’s Book Week (which we just finished up last week). It was so much fun talking to her and getting inside her head about Alycat and the Monday Blues.
And, as with so many of our amazing tours, there is a GIVEAWAY! Stop by the tour site and enter for your chance to win 1 of 5 adorable prize packages!
