[Book Blogger Hop] Side Quest #3

Didn’t you just love that interview yesterday? Megan Linski is one of my favorite authors! And Torrent . . . wow! Anyway, it’s that time again – time for the Book Blogger Hop (and yes, I know I should be focusing on everything for Kid’s Book Week – which starts on Monday! – but I’m going to sneak this one in and hope that my motivation holds and everything else gets done on time. It will. It should. Yes, it will!)

So, if you haven’t joined us before, the Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer and it’s a lot of fun. Each week, there is a question to answer (the hop runs from Friday til Thursday) and all you have to do is link up your answer and hop around to other blogs and say hi! Easy peasy and lots of fun! This week’s question comes from our host, Billy . . .

Have you ever bought a book because you liked its cover art?

You’re kidding, right? Maybe the more appropriate question for me would be “have you ever bought a book based on something other than the cover art?” Because yes, I am a very visual person. And yes, I tend to have a problem with buying books based on their cover (and signing up for tours based on the same criteria, which sometimes produces less than favorable reviews, unfortunately). Of course, I am learning to read the summary on Amazon / Goodreads before buying / signing up for books. Most of the time. Some of the time. Let’s just agree that I am a work in progress.

So . . . favorite cover art? Right now, it is With These Wings by another favorite author of mine, Wendy Knight.

Although, to be fair, I don’t think there is a cover of Wendy’s that I haven’t absolutely fallen in love with 🙂

The truth? Yes. We had suddenly lost our precious Yoda. I was walking around Barnes & Noble and this book was turned out so I saw the cover. I have been a big fan of his ever since 🙂

That’s all we have for you today 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your hopping!

[Book Blogger Hop] Side Quest #2

It’s time for another blog hop! Again, hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer (thank you so much for a fun blog hop!). How does it work? Each week, there is a question to answer (submitted by many different bloggers – I even submitted one so we will see what happens!). Once you’ve written your post and answered the question, add it to the link-up and then go hop around! Meet some new bloggers, make friends, comment and maybe even follow a few! Lots of fun!

So how about this week’s question? It comes from Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books.

Have you ever read a book in a foreign language you might be fluent in, and then read the same book in English?

IMG_20170820_210517_288000

Ooh, hard one. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and, while I can understand enough to keep us out of trouble if we ever traveled to Spain, I wouldn’t consider myself fluent in it. Unfortunately, neither Crystal or I have retained enough language knowledge to read any books. So this question is going to go to Lady Quinn and Mr. Chu (the little ones, if you are new to the blog). And the book they have read is courtesy of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

You can find the English version of this book on Amazon ( I had to take a picture of our copy because I couldn’t find the bilingual one anywhere). We love all the Sassy books. They’re bright and the pictures are gorgeous! Lady Quinn and Mr. Chu love going through and picking out the pictures they like best (with this one, it was the page with all the farm animals on it and the one with the trains/cars/trucks). We also have the Let’s Count!: A First Book of Numbers, but that one isn’t bilingual.

So, in answer to the question, this is as close as any of us here at the Ginger Mom have gotten to reading a book in another language. What about you? Have you read any books in other languages?

Harlie aug 2017Yep, here at the Ginger Mom, we start ’em reading young! Check out our Instagram page for more adorable pictures of Lady Quinn and her brother reading 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Friday!

[Book Blogger Hop] Side Quest #1

One of my favorite things the last time around was blog hops. It’s always so much fun meeting new bloggers! This one is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. And I like it because it’s not just a one day thing. This blog hop goes for an entire week!

So what am I supposed to do? First, answer the week’s question (this week’s question comes from Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books.

When you enter an unfamiliar house or apartment for the first time, do you feel disappointed if you don’t see any bookshelves, or books on the coffee table?

IMG_20170820_210517_288000

Disappointed? No. I won’t judge someone just because they don’t have books on the table. Mine are on bookshelves in my bedroom, out of sight for anyone visiting my home. Is it because I’m hiding them? No. There just isn’t any other space! lol. Am I disappointed that I can’t snoop into someone’s reading preferences? Yes. It’s always fun to see what other people like to read (and maybe get some suggestions!).

IMG_20170820_210418_150000

Always! I drool over a house that has a library/den. It is the one room that I hope we can have in our next forever home 🙂 It changes my opinion of someone if I think they don’t read. It shows a narrow view of the world. Also, I think you learn a lot about someone by what they read. Better than a palm reader or an online dating bio!! Haha!

Now what? If you’ve answered the question, go add your link to the list and then hop around to other blogs! Go leave some comments, maybe follow a few, and make some new booknerd friends!

Happy Saturday 🙂
