While battling each other in an FPS setting, players must find a set of hidden stones infused with an ancient power and return them to various obelisks surrounding the land. Little do they know however, that the more they level up in the game, the more they carry out the sinister work of the loathsome creature called the Leviathan.

I am not a gamer chick. I am able to keep Mario on his little kart, but that is the extent of my mad skills. I am the girl who plays the uber easy levels on Super Mario Bros, just to stock up on lives because we all know I’m going to die later on. It’s inevitable. Despite my epic noob status in the gamer world, this little novella sucked me in. As soon as Brittany – the cop / gamer girl – starts to have suspicions that she’s not in a game, but it’s actually real life? Wow! I love stories where you start to wonder is it real or virtual?

Back in December, I read Conquest by R.M. Mulder and was introduced to the Leviathan. So, naturally, when offered a chance to review a companion novella, I jumped on the chance. I love the concept of the characters being stuck in the game but not sure if it’s real or virtual. Very intriguing! I was sucked in right away and finished this in one sitting, despite sheer exhaustion. *wink* Needless to say, I am eager for the next installment 🙂

A big thank you to R.M. Mulder for the complementary copy of the GameLit Expansion Pack. The gifting of this book in no way influenced my review and all opinions expressed within are entirely my own.
