IWSG #3 | I’m Co-Authoring a Novel!

Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

Hello, booknerds! Insecure writer here.

Over the last few weeks, I took an extremely big step outside my comfort zone. I asked a friend to co-author a book with me. Now, this may not seem like a big deal to someone who has been actively writing. And, for the me who originally suggested it a few years ago (the me who was actively posting writing prompts and snippits of her stories on a blog dedicated almost entirely to the craft), it wasn’t a big deal. But that was before I stopped writing.

A few years makes a big difference. Now, this woman who was once confident enough to share her writing on aย  regular basis is starting from scratch, building up that confidence once again.

Bring it on.

Are you an insecure writer? Are you a closet writer? Do you prefer to read instead of write? Let us know in the comments below! And, as always, thanks for reading โค

  1. What fabulous news! I co-authored a story for the A-Z challenge this year and we plan to complete the job to novel length. I have to say it’s been a fantastic experience and I’m so glad I was asked. So I’m sure your co-author will have been as tickled pink as I was. Enjoy it and all the best ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. This sounds like a lot of fun! Good luck with turning it into a novel ๐Ÿ™‚ I didn’t get a chance to participate in the A-Z challenge this year because we had too much going on but that sounds like an original take on it ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Congrats! On starting! I am an insecure writer too. I have started my first book and it’s really scary. I do feel your pain! Keep going and good luck!

    1. Thanks! I think the biggest issue is going to be meeting in the middle. When you are writing solo, you have complete creative control. But this way will lend new ideas and perspectives so I am excited to give it a go! Good luck with your project!

  3. Confidence is a damnable beastie writing wise. Sometimes itโ€™s up there and other times not. The bigger the gap between writing times though is a terrible thing. So easy to do (guilty) and so hard to get back again. Youโ€™ve sure jumped into a new boat though. Co-writing is a real new comfort zone. Here you canโ€™t just let yourself down anymore. I really wish you well in this exciting project Megan.

Maybe you can post about the journey from your perspective too ๐Ÿ˜Š
