A Bully + An Award + Footsteps + A Book Tour + Lady Sif + A Blue Truck + Magic! [Sunday Post #3]

With a title like that, you’re probably thinking we’ve gone completely mad here! And, in all fairness, perhaps we have . . . just a bit 🙂

First, and most importantly, the Ginger Mom is standing in support of romance authors and promoting the Cocktales Anthology.

Cocktales is a limited-release anthology (available ONLY from May 26 – August 26, 2018) of original, never before published material, some of which is raw and unedited. Each story was specifically written for this anthology.

The goal of the Cocktales Anthology is to raise funds to fight against obstruction of creative expression. Specifically, what we believe are obstruction attempts through the trademarking of common (single) words for titicular use in books / or as a book series (ebooks, print, and audio).

ALL net profits will be donated to:
1 – Authors already impacted by creative-obstruction (10%), and
2 – Romance Writers of America (RWA) (90%) as a general donation intended for their Advocacy Fund.

Disclaimer: This anthology is not being conducted on behalf of RWA, nor does RWA endorse this anthology or effort. They have, however, graciously agreed to accept the funds.

If you’ve been on Twitter lately, you’ve probably seen hashtags like #FightLikeaRomanceAuthor or #cockygate. You may also have heard me talking about a woman who had the nerve to trademark the word “cocky” because she thinks she is the only one who should be able to use it in a book title (and BTW – she gives gingers a bad name!) So, as a future romance author, I purchased Cocktales to support the authors who are showing her that this word DOES NOT belong to her.

Here’s a little bit from the authors of Cocktales on who they are and what they stand for . . .

In other news on the blog . . .

Voting is now open for the Unique Blogger Award! Last weekend, we asked you to nominate your favorite bloggers and you gave us a list of pure awesomeness. But now, it’s time to vote!

We also participated in a couple memes this week . . .

Dani’s I Heart Characters! meme was so much fun this week as we picked our favorite god / goddess / immortal BFFs.

And, because I’m a serious cover addict, it was a no-brainer to link up for this week’s Friday Face-Off prompt of Footsteps. My choice was not only a book with incredible cover designs, but one that’s been on my TBR for quite some time and really needs to get read ASAP!

As it seems this week was mostly about memes and link-ups, we also hosted our usual #ChildrensBookTuesday meme – talking about the most adorable Little Blue Truck 🙂

Monday brought our first link-up for the #MarvelousMiddleGradeMonday meme with a review of Honey Moon Shiver by Joyce Magnin.

On Thursday, we participated in the blog tour for A Forever Night Stand by Bena Roberts, with a spotlight post. This tour was hosted by Rachel’s Random Resources, which has become one of our favorite tour hosts.

Shirley's book blogger list (no background)

And, last but not least, the Ginger Mom is now listed on Shirley’s Book Blogger List and we now have an incredibly long list of blogs and potential friends to meet 🙂 If you haven’t checked out her list yet, we highly recommend it!

That was our week at the Ginger Mom! What did your week look like? Are you in the US, getting ready to celebrate Memorial Day with a nice long weekend? Even in the 90-degree weather? What books are you reading this weekend? As always, we thank you for visiting and appreciate your comments!

I’m linking up with Kimberly at the Caffeinated Reviewer
for her Sunday Post Meme 🙂

    1. Me too! I have seen her Twitter feed and it initially looked like she thought it was all a big joke. Now it is everyone’s fault but hers. So I will support those taking a stand against this type of bullying 🙂

  1. I did posts for promo and now available for Cocktales and pre-ordered it. I’ve read one of the stories so far by a favorite author (Penny Reid). I’ll probably read more of time. It’s a stupid mess. I hope you can enjoy your week ahead with some great books. Anne – Books of My Heart
