You never forget your first love.
He was her best friend’s brother. The one that got away, and the only boy JoJo ever loved. With her heart in pieces, she tried to move on with her life and forget about Matt Todd and the single kiss
they shared.
Three years later, Matt is back, and all of JoJo’s old feelings spring to the surface. Sparks fly between them, and for a brief moment, JoJo thinks she might get her happily ever after. But when someone from Matt’s past comes to town with a secret, JoJo is left heartbroken once more. Will she find her happily ever after, or is she destined for a life of heartbreak?

I received a copy of this book from
the author in exchange for my honest review.
The gifting of this book in no way influenced my
review and all opinions expressed within are entirely
my own.

JoJo, you have been redeemed.

When I read Peace in Flames JoJo was my least favorite character. I didn’t like her self-centered nature or how completely oblivious she was to everything going on with Valerie, her best friend. In Summer of Peace, I saw JoJo in an entirely different light and liked her SO MUCH MORE. And her relationship with Matt was perfect, not to mention the little misunderstandings that turn into huge problems. Oh wow, JoJo, you are a stubborn one.

Because this was a novella, I devoured it in a little over one sitting (I have two kids . . . reading a book in one sitting almost never happens anymore). And despite it being JoJo, I was still hooked immediately. It was actually a good thing that there was a gap between reading Valerie’s story and reading JoJo’s because I was able to treat her almost like a new character. I had, essentially, forgotten about most of her bad habits that I didn’t like in Peace in Flames. I am glad that I was able to give JoJo a fresh start. She really deserved it.

I have to say, this series has really incredible covers. I completely fell in love with the cover for Peace in Flames so I was thrilled to see that this one stayed true to the theme.

I liked that JoJo and Matt look so happy on the cover because it shows you that there’s a happy love story in there (despite the characters being so stubborn and almost ruining it all). The biggest thing about the cover for me is that it doesn’t look like it was just thrown together. The font fits the series very well (as well as it stays true to the first book). And the cover image itself doesn’t scream clipart. It shows that care was taken with the cover, as it is the first any reader sees of your book.

Final answer? Beautiful cover. Amazing story. Again, I say JoJo has been redeemed. I recommend this one with all of five stars and beyond 🙂

    1. She really changed (or perhaps it was my perspective of her that changed) in this book. And yes, she most certainly is stubborn! Thank you for allowing me to see her for who she really is inside 🙂
