For those of you who have been around the Ginger Mom for awhile, you probably remember me talking about NaNoWriMo late last October. And you remember my wrap-up in the beginning of December that talks about how I wrote 50,000 words in 30 days and totally rocked that challenge, right?
Yea, didn’t think so. That post never happened. Why? Because I had all the great intentions – I had a super plot (it’s Cinderella, frying crying out loud!), tons of notes (I don’t think I really did much else at work besides think of my novel in October). And then November 1st came . . . nothing. And November 2nd, and the 3rd and still nothing. Then life got in the way, and the blog, and Thanksgiving, and other excuses. By the time December 1st rolled around, I had nothing done. I signed up for NaNoWriMo and completed ZERO words.
For the record, Crystal and I spent most of November working on the blog and getting ready for our 2018 AtoZ Reading Challenge (not an excuse, just a fact – and maybe a shameless plug lol). And, because I have no self-control, I had more than a few tours that needed to be finished in November and December. So, great intentions, not so great timing . . . or planning.
Thank the stars for CampNaNoWriMo. If you aren’t familiar with it, CampNaNo is the more laid-back version of November’s craziness. The word count goals are adjustable (you don’t have to go for 50,000 if you don’t want to). There are cabins – get paired with other campers and have a blast! You could even roast marshmallows if you want. I have participated plenty of times. Finished? Well, that’s another story.
April is going to be different . . .
Because I did absolutely nothing with Cinderella’s story in November, I am going to give it another go in April. 50,000 words in 30 days. Bring it on.
Have you declared your intent to write like a crazy person in April? Want to be writing buddies? I am Megan_GingerMomQuest . . . come say hi!
