I have become absolutely obsessed with highland / Scottish romancey books lately, and with Madeline Martin’s novels, in particular. A while back, I reviewed the second book in this series (yes, I know I have a problem with the natural order of stories!) and adored it. I also read a teensy novella of hers (remember, I don’t do novellas). Long story short, this woman is immensely talented.

Oh the feels.
I don’t think there was anything about this book I didn’t like. I read Highland Ruse before this book so, of course I already knew and loved Delilah’s character, but then you add in Ariana and Connor (and the way they skirt around their growing attraction for each other) and I couldn’t put this book down.
I received a Kindle copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I then purchased the Audible companion to go with it. The free Kindle copy in no way influenced my opinions of this book.
I am so glad I downloaded the audio to go with this book because I had always wondered how to pronounce some of the words and the narration (read by Dave Gillies) was fantastic! He really brought Connor and Ariana to life!
Of all, though, I think Percy quickly became my favorite. She was quiet and sweet and always so kind. She made me smile each time she showed up in this story, but I also loved her strength. And, how the others respected her for it.
And wow, if that wasn’t the most romantic game of strip poker I ever heard of! Each book I read by Madeline Martin surpasses the one before it, leaving me eager for more!
Until next time 🙂
