After years away from the North Pole, Kris Kringle happily accepts her Uncle Santa’s offer to move back to Christmas Central as head chef. With her young daughter in tow, Kris returns home with two objectives in mind. Goal number one, bring her love of healthy eating and nutritious fare to the North Pole dining service. Goal number two, recover from heartbreak and forget Kyle Masterson, the man who broke her heart. But when Santa hires Kyle as a new  co-chef for the holiday season, Kris suddenly realizes that replacing the elves’ beloved sugar cookies with carrots is going to be a piece of cake compared to working alongside her ex-fiance.

Megan's reviewI picked this book up as part of the 12 Books of Christmas Challenge and breezed right through it. I normally stay away from novellas because they tend to feel rushed but that wasn’t the case here.

I loved the elves and their sugar addiction, along with Kris’ very real struggle to introduce healthy foods to the inhabitants of Christmas Central. Add in a sweet and spicy second-chance romance and you have the makings for a great little story! And these elves sure have attitude!

The audio narration by Carly Robins was done wonderfully. I had no trouble telling who was speaking and I loved the personality given to the elves. It was a very light, entertaining listen.

  1. I like working with Jess. If you can’t guess, I’m going to recommend the Christmas Falls series I keep blogging about. I finally started the last book last night.

  2. I’m not a huge fan of seasonal reads, but these sounds absolutely delightful. And I love novellas for how quickly I’m able to get through them! Excellent review, thanks for sharing!

    1. I don’t know what it was about this year but I am seriously in the Christmas book mood. Usually I can’t stand them. But this one was adorable! Highly recommend the audio, if only to listen to the cute little elves lol!

  3. Sounds like a fun read. If you’re after something fun and quick, Santa Maybe by Scarlett Bailey. I read it a few years ago and still remember how much I enjoyed it.
For children a book that I have gifted a few times and the kids have absolutely loved (apparently it comes out every year), ‘Father Christmas Needs a Wee’ by Nicholas Allan.

A bit more grown up ‘The Best Little Christmas Shop’ by Maxine Morrey.

I could go on and on. X

  4. This sounds like a really cute and fluffy read, I am more into angsty and emotional read myself, but I am glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
