I am continually amazed by the book blogging community. You guys are wonderful! The Ginger Mom was nominated for another award, this time by the amazing Dani @ Perspective of a Writer. I have been following her blog for quite a while now and I love it! She has such a unique personality and her reviews are so much fun to read! So, go check her out – seriously, it’s okay, I’ll wait.
This award is all about getting your favorite new (and old) bloggers to share a little bit about themselves, all the while promoting them to your own readers 🙂 How fun is that! Thank you so much, Dani, for the nomination.
There are a few rules . . . should you choose to accept 🙂 Quite simple, really.
- Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you. (That would be us – Megan & Crystal @ Ginger Mom and the Kindle Quest!)
- Answer the 11 questions. (Some of ours may be a bit crazy.)
- Nominate 11 bloggers for the same award in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family.
- Ask them 11 questions that you are dying for the answers to!
Q1 – Name 6 types of characters you love most? (i.e. like genre but for characters, my examples: witty females, hot beta males, nerdy love interests, pirates, supportive best friends and orphans. If you can group them and love them, name them!)
Well, no one said this was going to be easy. Okay, let’s see. Pirates. Yes, absolutely pirates! (And I blame Once Upon a Time for this – ooh, Killian!) What else? Villains (yes, I love to hate a good villain),
monkeys! the best friend who turns into the love interest (I have no idea what they’re called), the side-switcher (that character who starts out as a bad guy/good guy and decides to switch sides at some point in the book), the adorable guide (here I am thinking of Alistair from Remembrance and Timeless by Michelle Madow), the non-magical character who ends up saving the day (thank you again, Once Upon a Time).
Q2 – What favorite movie or television show do you wish would be turned into a YA series? Complete with properly aged protagonists, and YA tropes . . . anything goes!
I think you all know my answer for this one . . .
Q3 – Have you experienced a genre that you thought you hated but fell in love with? What book won you over?
I’m going to let Crystal answer this one because I helped with this conversion 🙂 What genre? YA. The book? The Sky Throne by Chris Ledbetter. Absolutely. Loved it.
Q4 – If you were captured by fairies and they turned you into any animal but you had to remain that animal for the rest of you life . . . which would it be (real or fictional animals are good)?
Crystal’s answer – a really cool, colorful dragon. Megan’s answer – Sven, the reindeer from Frozen 🙂 Oh yeah, he’s awesome.
Q5 – If you could teleport to any city in the world, which would it be? If you had to make your way home on your own, would it still be the same city?
Any city? (I’m going to tweak this question just a bit and say fictional cities count too). Drumroll please . . .
Oh yea! I would go to Storybrooke pre or post-curse. Preferably post-curse. If I had to get back on my own . . . do I have to come back?
Q6 – If a band were to be featured in a fictional story, which would you want it to be and why?
I’m going to take one step farther and use a specific song. “Ice Queen” by Within Temptation. And the why? Because it’s one of my absolute favorite songs and look at that video – it fits pretty much any fairytale retelling you could think of!
Q7 – Favorite book universe and why? (Is it the friends you would have, the world you would live in or the abilities / circumstances you would be in?)
The world created by the amazing Michelle Madow in Timeless (Transcend Time Saga #2). Why? Because – time travel, magic, Pride and Prejudice era, fancy dresses, England, more magic, and of course – Drew. British Drew. Sexy.
Q8 – If your sibling turned into a dragon and insisted on staying by your side forever, would you want it to retain your sibling’s personality? If not, what would you want the dragon to be like?
Crystal, I think you can agree with me on which sibling of mine should be a dragon. An awesome, snarky, cool dragon! Yes, my youngest sister. She would make a great dragon 🙂 But wait – my mom wants to be a cool, colorful dragon and now my sister gets to be a dragon. What about me? Can’t I just be a dragon, too? Flying, breathing fire! Awesome!
Q9 – What book describes you best? (Is it a particular character, the cover or the story?)
This one goes to Crystal, too . . . In Search of Emily by Susan Nelson. Why? Very similar experiences during a rough time in my life.
Q10 – If you had a magic tin that refilled with any non-perishable food, which would you want it to be filled with?
Oh no, a magically re-filling tin of ANY food? Goodbye diet. Honey-roasted cashews. Yep, self-control gone.
Q11 – If you wrote a book, what would it be about? (i.e. the premise, type of characters, world?)
I am participating in NaNoWriMo this month with a retelling of Cinderella (the first in a 5-book series of fairytale retellings). Think Once Upon a Time but meshed up so much more! Lots of fun 🙂
