[Review] Landlocked – C.S. Moore

One of the biggest problems I’ve had with Indie authors is that the covers . . . how do I put it? So often, they don’t get the care and attention that they deserve. A lot of them look like the author took a very generic photo off of Google and tweaked it with PhotoShop before splashing their title and name on it. I know that you’re not supposed to “judge a book by it’s cover” but it’s the same as when you go to a restaurant. You eat with your eyes first. In culinary school, that was drilled into our heads. Presentation. It’s the same with books. Your eye sees the cover first. And if that cover is . . . well, less than attractive, you’re not as likely to pick the book up. At least, I’m not. Call me judgmental but it is what it is.

These covers don’t have that problem. They. Are. Gorgeous! When I stumbled upon them on Facebook, the author offering them for review, the covers caught my eye immediately. And then I read “mermaids” and was hooked.

I adored this book. I loved its characters and the way that, 3/4 through the book, I was still on the edge of my seat, guessing. This was an amazing twist on the typical mermaid tale and I loved every minute of it. And just when you think the author has tied up most of the loose ends, she throws in one last cliffhanger that leaves you staring at the last page, mouth hanging open in shock, and scrambling to download book 2!

If this sounds good to you, check it out on Amazon! I would love to hear what you think when you’re done!
